New Look: Sweet Faerie Designs

Readers of this blog will notice the new look, all courtesy of Carrie at Sweet Faerie Designs.  Carrie is amazing -- professional, quick and totally creative.  I can't thank her enough for giving my little blog such a gorgeous makeover.  You can also check out her blog here.

Of course, this new look would not have been possible without the wonderful Helena of A Diary of Lovely and the giveaway I was lucky enough to win on her blog.  Helena was one of my first friends in the blog world and I can't say enough great things about her.  Not only is Helena kind, but she also has one of the best blogs around. For anyone who hasn't read it yet I would suggest you run--don't walk--to check out A Diary of Lovely.

So, the Olympics are over.  Congrats to the U.S. for the most medals over all, and a big thank you to the Canadian athletes for all their passion and talent--and for bringing home the most gold medals of any country. Of course, the gold medal game between the Canadian and U.S. hockey teams was a big part of my day.  Parise's goal with only seconds left--holy heart attack, Batman. I'm so glad the men pulled it together for the win.

The true North strong and free...

As for the closing ceremonies, there were some funny parts, but I didn't catch the whole thing, mostly because a girl can only take so many giant beavers and flying moose.  I did spot Alanis, though, and I was pretty blown away.  She looked great!  Kind of like Elisabetta Canalis.  (Okay, this isn't the best picture, but on TV she looked good. Beautiful jewellery, too.)

And did you catch the teaser for the 2014 games in Sochi?  Natalia looked beautiful.

Back It Up

Its always great when the back of an outfit holds a little surprise - whether it be a dramatic scoop, buttons, or colourful heels.

Olympic Colours

How have you been enjoying the Games so far? I much prefer the winter Olympics to the summer, although I haven't been watching as much of the Olympics as I would like. There have been several wonderful moments that I have caught, two of which happened last night--Joannie Rochette winning bronze and the Canadian woman's hockey team winning gold.  Go ladies!  (And I think that the "scandal" over the hockey team's celebration is just ridiculous.)

If anyone can make the traditional HBC coat
(by Smythe) cool it would have to be Rachel Bilson.
She looks so adorable I almost want one of my own!

Big names turned out for the Love Ball charity event hosted by Natalia Vodianova, British Harper's Bazaar, and De Beers and held at the Roundhouse in London.  Proceeds went to Vodianova's Naked Heart Foundation.

The De Beers necklace designed by the
super went for 180,000 pounds at auction.

And congrats to Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie. I guess the trend of starlet's getting engaged to Canadian hockey players is continuing. Can Elisha Cuthbert be far behind? I think Mike and Hilary make a cute couple and get a load of the $1 million rock Mike sprang for. Dang.

Check out the guy with the Jays cap in the background.

My So-Called Life Reunion.
I used to love Jared Leto, what a good
leaner that Jordan Catalano was, although
why he has to do this to his hair now is beyond me.

And I love Gwen and Gavin.
How cute are they after all these years?

Sneak Peek: Liberty of London for Target

Another reason why I'm jealous that Target hasn't made it North of the border yet:  Liberty of London and their trademark florals.

Lost Wednesdays: Lighthouse

WARNING: POST CONTAINS EPISODE SPOILERS

A Jackpisode I actually enjoyed? Will wonders never cease? But Lighthouse was all about Jackie boy and I did think it was pretty great. The flash sideways was definitely interesting. Jack a dad and maybe not much different than his own father, although he certainly seems willing to change. And who is young David's mother? I also wonder if Jack's parents are still together, considering his mom was still living in the house that Island Jack claimed he hadn't lived in since childhood. I'm more convinced than ever that the parallel universe is what would have happened if Jacob hadn't touched the Losties. Great glimpse of Japanese Temple Dude at the piano recital.

I also loved how there were references and tie-ins to that old Jack-centric episode, "White Rabbit."  (I mean, David was even reading The Annotated Alice. And this is why I love this show.) Thanks for bringing back the caves, Shannon's asthma medication, and especially Adam and Eve. I know a lot of people are dying to know the idenity of these skeletons and I thought it was great how Hurley was speculating that they just might be the Losties after having jumped to another time. It was also interesting how Jack didn't seem to remember his appendectomy scar.

The lighthouse was cool. Sure, it just adds to the questions, but I enjoyed the Jacob-Hurley exchange (and I did like how Jack voiced the, "How come we haven't seen this building before?" question.) I wonder if someone really is coming to the island (and if so, who?) or if it was all just a ruse to get Jack to realize how important he is (I know, I know, gag me). On the wheel in the lighthouse 108 corresponds to the name Wallace, wonder who that is? I was laughing when Jacob told Hurley that sometimes he couldn't directly tell people what to do, couldn't just jump in the back of their cab and issue instructions. For me, flash sideways Jack is much more palatable than brooding Island Jack who only seems to crack a smile when he spots Kate by the river.

"You know, you and me trekking through the jungle, on our way to do something that we don't quite understand. Good times." - Hugo Reyes

Which brings us to Jungle Claire. Talk about creepy and I was never much of a Claire fan to begin with. Now we know why Rosseau was the way she was. I mean with people with Claire's sickness running around the jungle can anyone blame the Frenchwoman? (I also loved how Claire told Jin the thing you really have to worry about in that jungle is infection). I'm really, really, really looking forward to the Claire-Kate reunion. Should be hugs and kisses all around. And that last moment when Claire introduced her "friend" to Jin--major creepage.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of the big questions I want answered is what the deal is with Aaron. I need the issues brought up by the psychic in "Raised by Another" addressed and soon!

What were your thoughts about this episode?

Beautiful Home: 02.24.10

Gorgeous home of Mayer and Beau Buisson designed by Barbara Howard in Buckhead and featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

For the living room the designer aimed to create
a space perfect for entertaining, but also comfortable
enough for a quiet night at home for the couple.

I love the fireplace and the natural palette, which
makes the roomcalm but also elegant and sophisticated.

I think this eating area off the kitchen is great. The
look of the varied seating really lends added interest.

I adore the zig zag settee in the dining room,
I'm pretty much a sucker for unique and mixed
seating. I also think its pretty great that the fabric
chosen is not only chic, but functional.

“They’re a young couple and have lots of nieces and nephews, so they were a little worried about the fabric holding up,” says the designer. “It’s just a cotton, but it actually has a thin vinyl coating. You can’t see it or feel it, so it still appears very elegant but is also durable.”
